1989 Joel Smoker and the Red Dirt Band Highway One is the road that you take if you want to see Australia. It's a road Joel Smoker has travelled on many times. The journey began with the trip his mother took when she drove back with him to Fitzroy Crossing, from the little northwest port of Derby, where he was born. Having spent a good part of his life in outback Australia, Joel was able to draw on his experiences of living and traveling over this vast continent as a source for the twelve original songs on his debut recording. Joel enlisted the services of internationally acclaimed pedal steel guitarist, Lucky Oceans as producer and instrumentalist.
